Embracing the Kingdom Life pt. 3
So I am going away from the original format of usually going based on the gospels and teachings of Jesus. I am going to pull one out of Genesis. As I was reading about the story of Jacob, God taught me this lesson.
“Because your God cleared the way for me.” – Genesis 27:20
I dont know if you guys assumed that most of the people God used were saved, but I sure did. But as we read into the life of Jacob we read how he didnt believe in God. Isaac, his father, lived a life that definitely was spent doing the will of God. He obeyed and made sure he fulfilled his covenant with God. One would assume his sons would follow suit, yet we see in this verse it is totally different. While Jacob is committing a lie with his mother, he recognizes that this God his father serves is definitely not his God. Neither did Esau serve the God his father did.
“When Esau was forty years old he married Judith, daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, daughter of Elon the Hittite. They turned out to be thorns in the sides of Isaac and Rebekah.” Genesis 25:34-35
So the kingdom life that God showed me is that when he grants me kids, I cant assume anything. My life, anointing or calling isnt going to save my children, Christ must save my children. And just like we read later in the chapters, my children must have an Awakening moment just like Jacob would have later on.
“Then God was right before him… Jacob woke up from his sleep. He said, “God is in this place—truly. And I didn’t even know it!” He was terrified. He whispered in awe, “Incredible. Wonderful. Holy. This is God’s House. This is the Gate of Heaven.” Genesis 28:13-17
And later we read of his promise of salvation to God.
“Jacob vowed a vow: “If God stands by me and protects me on this journey on which I’m setting out, keeps me in food and clothing, and brings me back in one piece to my father’s house, this God will be my God. This stone that I have set up as a memorial pillar will mark this as a place where God lives. And everything you give me, I’ll return a tenth to you.” Genesis 28:20-22
So we see just because we have people around us being a part of God’s work, plan etc does not necessarily mean that they will just automatically get it. I got to pray as a friend, co-worker, neighbor etc that those who I know would have an Awakening.
