Pa-ti-ence
Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast.
Yeah. I need to exhibit this. Coming out here I had set some goals of my own that I figured were God’s goals as well. They are all good and all, but I had no patience at all. I rushed things everyday acting as if certain marks were not hit by a certain date or time I have failed. Rather than just waiting for God’s work into fruition.
And honestly these past couple of days, since I have arrived here, I have just settled down. Nothing is rushed or nothing is the last thing that can I ever happen. Yes, I know tomorrow is not guaranteed but God is. So all I need to know is that He is here and in Him I will be satisfied.
When Judas had eaten the bread, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus told him, “Hurry and do what you’re going to do.” – John 13:27
Had questions regarding this verse. So I tried to find out what good old Matthew Henry had to say about it, here are his thoughts about this verse:
The prophecy of his treachery may apply to all who partake of God’s mercies, and meet them with ingratitude. See the infidel, who only looks at the Scriptures with a desire to do away their authority and destroy their influence; the hypocrite, who professes to believe the Scriptures, but will not govern himself by them; and the apostate, who turns aside from Christ for a thing of naught. Thus mankind, supported by God’s providence, after eating bread with Him, lift up the heel against Him! Judas went out as one weary of Jesus and his apostles. Those whose deeds are evil, love darkness rather than light.
Pretty straight-forward from Mr. Henry. Some good thoughts that we too can pull a Judas and betray him daily. Just as he had the choice to walk away from Christ and turn in him for personal satisfaction we can as well. Lets not forsake the Light God has given us in this dark world!
