Cain & Offering
Yesterday I read in Genesis about Cain & Abel, I read how God had favored Abel more than he did Cain. And as a result Cain was not too happy with God. God decided to confront Cain about this sin (God confronted Cain) and asks why he has allowed himself to sin and so in allowed his reputation in God to be tarnished. But all this of conflict can be stemmed from the offering that both Cain and Abel give to God from the fruits of their labor.
Both of these brothers recognized the fact that they both had to give to God the fruits of their labor. But not both recognized that God wanted the best. Abel was the only one, and as a result he gave his firstborn, best and richest of his flock, while Cain just gave. And it was in this that God was pleased with Abel and not so much with Cain…
But I had to ask myself in this society/world that we live in where your $ is the same value as my $… how can I give the firstborn, best and the richest of my $?
Do I give the tips that I get on Monday to God, and keep the rest of the tips of that I make?
What do I/You do so that we are constantly giving God the “fat” of our money?
I really want to know…because I dont know.
