Moses’ desert lessons
12 Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. – Psalms 90
God has been really speaking me through the emo writings of several men of God. Here we get to read Moses’ writing as he trudges through the desert. Can you imagine the scene?
Moses going through this desert for what seemed like eternity, day after day after day, and seeing the same sights every so often. And here Moses wants God to teach to number his days… what?!?!
Why would want that? Moses knew that there was a purpose just beyond what was seen, Moses prayed that the nation of Israel would get it, gain wisdom. I can’t get lost in losing track of the day, I must take captive of every hour that passes by and make it worth its while. Who but God guarantees tomorrow?
Moses knew that in order to get through the day he needed to be satisfied by God in the morning, so that righteousness went before him and wouldnt sin against God.
Does righteousness go before you through the day? Or does selfishness lead you throughout the day
